Time is a flat circle, and your first hour sets your loop.
This year, I started spending that first hour at my perfume desk smelling. I knew I'd enjoy it — I didn't expect to feel so different for the rest of the day.
Turns out there's a lot of science around this specific window of time. When you wake up, your brain is at its softest and most receptive. Cortisol is rising, and your nervous system is quietly choosing its mode — calm & creative, or stressed & reactive. What you let in during that hour becomes the frequency everything else tunes to.
A walk, a book, looking out the window, a calming scent, a favorite album. Slow and sensory tune you one way. News and email tune you the other.
