I know it's obvious to say the world feels unsettled, but I've been noticing how that energy trickles into daily life. We start to feel unmoored, unable to make a decision or move forward. Restless without knowing why.
The concept of grounding in aromatherapy means creating a sense of stability through scent — bringing your mental state to something more centered, less prone to agitation. Scents distilled from roots deep in the earth are an olfactory reminder of that steadiness. A message to your subconscious that you can settle.
High in the Himalayan mountains grows a small flowering plant called muskroot or spikenard. Its roots have to be incredibly resilient to survive at that altitude, and when distilled, they produce a warm, earthy scent that stills wandering minds. Vetiver — the most well-known root extraction we use in perfume — grows differently, with roots going straight down up to 10 feet! Known in Ayurveda as the 'oil of tranquility,' it's proven to soften feelings of overwhelm & anxiety.
You'll find spikenard in Earth, and vetiver in Moon perfume oil.
Not a cure for uncertainty. Just something steady to come back to.
