How To Grow
Your personality is not hardwired, a matter of genetics or simply 'who you are'. Your nature is complex, curious and capable of evolution. At a time when it feels like the world is in a state of devolution, focusing on your personal capacity for growth is one of the most powerful things you can contribute.
New research shows we absolutely have the ability to 'self-evolve' & this process is an important part of building our psychological health. Through the practice of conscious intent we can change our personality, mental capabilities, relationships & behaviors. At the heart of conscious intent is awareness coupled with action. The more you can envision yourself & your life with these new qualities the easier it is to achieve.
Try this simple process for growth as part of your daily ritual:
- write down 2-3 things you'd like to develop in yourself
- for each one take a moment to envision yourself as if you already embody this quality or capability
- describe this expanded picture of yourself in a few sentences 'i am...'
- note 1-2 things you can do to develop the qualities you're evolving towards
And most importantly, when you start to see your desired changes stop & notice how it feels. Growth might be difficult but it always feels good.
