Shaping The Invisible
One of my favorites things about scent is how deeply it shapes our experiences without us even being aware of it. Scent is a powerful invisible force because a lot of smelling happens below our radar of consciousness.
While our other sensory systems get analyzed & translated through the thalamus, our ‘consciousness gateway’, scents skip this step & attach directly to our emotions & memories.
Understanding & connecting with scent gives us a chance to move beyond the incessant waves of our intellectualizing mind & work with the deeper currents of our subconscious. It’s mysterious, beautiful & a little bit magic.
