Visualization practices help create mental space because by picturing something in great detail (eg looking out at the ocean) your mind sends the same message of calm & relaxation to your body as if you were really there. And to create a sense of physical space, scent is perfect because it's sensory & instantaneous. Try using a scented candle, a room spray or a stick of your favorite incense.
