My Favorite Things - A Sensory Survey

Our senses create our best experiences, bring us into our bodies & form our deepest memories. These are my current sensory faves - what's yours?

Taste: Cardamom Cream - Cardamom is one of the most comforting scents around & this orange cardamom ricotta cake with cardamom cream is delicious, easy & works GF.

Smell: Sage-Perfumed Fur - We just got our first pup, a sweet girl called Licorice, and my new favorite smell is her sage-perfumed fur after she's been running around in the garden. Often used in traditional medicines, a recent pharmacological study of sage shows exactly how it helps a range of physical & mental issues. If you like sage, our Calm Ritual Oil is great in a diffuser, bath, or blended into a moisturizer base.

Feel: Supported Fish - nothing makes me feel as good at the end of the day as reversing my body from concave to convex. This is my go-to move to open the chest & soften the shoulders.

Read: Life Is Meals - the ultimate 'book as snack', written by author James Salter & his wife Kay. With an entry for each day of the year, it's a celebration of our most shared ritual. And for the most personal, specific & non-algorithmic insights, Substack newsletters are my go-to read, from cooking @anchoviesandsoup, to fashion @blackbirdspyplane, to life @georgesaunders.

Hear: Flute On Repeat - Pitchfork describes this new album by Andre 3000 as 'emotionally direct.' It's hard to describe the feeling of an 87-minute instrumental flute album, but they've summed it up. Complex & minimal it's the creative soundscape I need.

Best scented wishes,
Emily
