The Sacred Wood

BODHA - Shinto Temple Hinoki Wood

From the oldest Shinto temples to daily bathhouses, every sacred space in Japan is scented with fresh dry notes of hinoki wood. Hinoki's a beautiful cypress tree native to Japan used for centuries for its strength, antibacterial properties, and 'scent of soul at peace.'

On our last incense trip, we spent a week on Shikoku, an island ringed by 88 temples dating back over 800 years. This pic is from temple #23 Yakuōji, 'the healing temple,' where we soaked in the profoundly peaceful scent of its ancient hinoki structures.

Bring a little temple energy to your day with hinoki in our Ground Ritual Incense and Earth Vibration Perfume.

Wishing you 'soul at peace',
Emily
